Arteflame XXL 40" Flat-Top Grill — Tall Euro Base

The Arteflame Classic 40" Grill with Tall Euro Base is a wood-fired grill and griddle in one: a center grill grate for searing, surrounded by a 40" flat steel cooktop with 1,250+ sq in of space for 8 or more people. The Euro base has slide-together CORTEN legs with an open, architectural look and raises it to 40", bar height. After dinner, lift off the cooktop and it becomes a fire pit.

Grill and griddle in one

• Sear over the fire: a wood or charcoal fire burns in the center under a removable grill grate that passes 1,000°F, for steaks, chops and burgers.
• Griddle around it: the flat-top ring gives 1,250+ sq in for eggs, pancakes, smash burgers, fish and vegetables, with nothing falling through the grates.
• Built-in heat zones: measured on an Arteflame Classic 40, the cooktop runs about 450–550°F near the inner edge and 250–350°F toward the outer edge, so you can sear, cook and keep food warm at the same time.
• No flare-ups on the cooktop: the steel sits between the fire and the food, so grease cannot drip into the flames.
• Fire pit after dinner: lift off the cooktop and enjoy an open fire.

Design and materials

The fire bowl and base are 10-gauge CORTEN (weathering) steel, about 3.4 mm thick, which forms a protective rust-colored patina and needs no paint. The cooktop is a separate ½" plate of hot-rolled steel, not CORTEN, designed to last a lifetime.

Care

Season the cooktop like cast iron with the included seasoning puck. After cooking, scrape it clean while warm and wipe on a light coat of oil to build a natural, low-stick patina. Allow 30–45 minutes for the steel to heat through before cooking.
